Jiafu Li is an articled student at Chak Law with a unique background in engineering, finance, and immigration consulting. His journey into law began after completing a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Alberta. He then discovered a passion for helping individuals and families navigate Canada’s complex immigration system.
As a first-generation immigrant, Jiafu possesses a deep, personal understanding of the challenges newcomers face. This insight fueled his early career, where he built a strong foundation in both individual and business immigration through roles at leading immigration law and consulting firms. His direct work with clients cemented his desire to have a greater impact, leading him to pursue his Juris Doctor at the University of Saskatchewan. There, he expanded his legal interests to include civil and criminal litigation, as well as estate planning. His academic excellence was recognized by achieving the highest score in his class for a major paper on First Nations economic development. To further enhance his ability to serve clients, he also completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, adding valuable financial and regulatory insight to his arsenal.
Outside of his legal practice, Jiafu is an avid traveler who has visited 19 countries. His passion for exploring diverse cultures enhances his ability to connect with individuals from different backgrounds. He also enjoys fishing, cooking, and exploring the local culinary scene.
